| "A
cat pours his body on the floor like water. It is restful just to
see him." |
Madonna was originally named Donna after Mrs. Donnelly, the lady who found her. Out for her daily walk, Mrs. Donnelly decided to return home by a route she did not usually travel--serendipity for this little cat who hadn’t had much luck up to that point in her life.

Mrs. Donnelly found the cat rolling on the sidewalk, seemingly in distress. She took the cat home and called her vet, who gave her Just Strays’ phone number. Nikki happened to be at home, answered the call, and said she had room for the cat. By the time Mrs. Donnelly hung up the phone, the kitty she had picked up from the sidewalk just moments before, was giving birth.
The whole family was brought to Just Strays later that day--mama and four kittens. And what a good mother Donna was! The volunteers spent spare moments talking to her and watching her care for her kittens. “Mama Donna” they called her, eventually shortened to Madonna.
Madonna is a tri-color tabby--misty gray, soft beige, and almond white, with soft-as-velvet fur. Her personality? -- unbelievably gentle, friendly and loving. She snuggles up to you, purrs, and blinks with contentment. If you are a special person, who will promise to love this kitty forever, we might let you adopt Madonna.
