NEIGHBOR
She made it through a car accident and major surgery
For weeks people saw this pitiful little cat wandering from house to house in the neighborhood, obviously homeless. Some of them fed her some of the time, but no one cared enough to take her in and give her a home. When her sides became swollen with an obvious pregnancy, she was still left to wander and find shelter wherever she could from the heavy rainstorms that were flooding our area at the time.
One day a woman walking by saw the cat hit by a car. The driver never even slowed down--just sped away. In contrast, the woman who witnessed this was a caring person who ran out and picked up the cat before it could be hit by another car. She rushed it to County Animal Clinic and said although she was not allowed to have a pet, she would pay for the animal’s care if County would find it a home. The cat had multiple gashes, internal injuries, and a fractured jaw. The kittens could not be saved. Kitty’s jaw was wired, and she was fed intravenously at first. When she was strong enough, the staff fed her soft food and liquid vitamins through a straw. Despite her trauma and pain, this young cat showed only a sweet, gentle disposition, obviously grateful for the care and attention she was getting. The staff asked Nikki if she would find the cat a home through Just Strays.
Neighbor recovered completely
at Nikki’s house. The wire was removed from her jaw as soon as the
bone healed. She is a beautiful white cat, with a black cape and intriguing
little black beard. She is sweet and super-friendly and has since found
a wonderful home!
